Description

The USAID Career Center program (UCC) aims to increase youth employability by involving all labor market actors in creating career services that assist young people’s transition from education to employment. The program established six pilot Career Centers in universities and vocational training institutes, which provide diagnostic tools, access to market information on viable career pathways, work readiness trainings, and opportunities to connect with the private sector. UCC collaborated closely with the private sector to design a work readiness training program, with a strong emphasis on soft skills, which were reported by employers as missing among graduates. A Virtual Career Center was also established to provide youth access to online tools and services.

Note: This year's case competition entry form included a new question about whether or not the highlighted CLA approach(es) contribute to a country’s Journey to Self-Reliance.The response to this question was not scored as part of the judging process.
