Event Description

Do you believe in transparency and accountability in international development? Do you dream of open data available to partners and constituents? Do you want to bury PDF graveyards in a sea of machine-readable data feeds?

Then RSVP now for the next Technology Salon to discuss the International Aid Transparency Initiative (IATI), which is now mandated by DfID and is of increasing importance to USAID. The IATI Standard provides a common way of publishing data on aid flows so different donors, or different NGOs, can be compared.

IATI implementation brings forth a few pertinent questions:

  1. What does IATI publication mean in practice for INGOs and contractors?
  2. What are some of the rewards and challenges of IATI data?
  3. What are the technological implications in publishing to IATI standards?
  4. How can we balance concerns around opening up aid data with the positive potential of transparency and accountability?

To help us sort through these issues and more, four thought leaders will guide discussions. Nicole Neumeister of BOND and Sam Worthington of InterAction will give an overview of IATI's impact on the development sector in the UK, USA, and globally. Then, Hannah Poole will share Pact's journey to be the first USAID implementing partner to use the IATI standard. Stephen Davenport of Development Gateway will give an update on USAID's programs with IATI.

Please RSVP to join a select cohort of decision makers for a lively discussion at the intersection of technology and development.

Seating is limited - once the event reaches a 30-person capacity there will be a waiting list.
