Event Description

Join BEAM Exhcange for an ediscussion to engage with expert practitioners and researchers on the topic of evidence for market systems approaches.

Practitioners and donors engaged in market systems development need evidence to inform their programme design choices and spending decisions: they need to know what has worked to improve programme design and they need evidence on whether market systems approaches are delivering results in economic change and poverty reduction.

However, providing credible and useful evidence for market system approaches is a challenge and it is generally agreed that evaluation methods need to be specifically designed to show that market systems approaches work.

At this ediscussion we will look at several competing perspectives on what constitutes credible evidence and aim to answer the following questions:

  • How should we collect evidence for market systems approaches?
  • What is the scope of how and what we measure?
  • What designs and methods work?
  • How can data be used effectively for learning and improving?

The ediscussion will be useful for people involved in the measurement of results, evaluation, and creation of evidence for market systems approaches as well as those involved in mandating and designing programmes using these approaches.

The ediscussion is open to all and will last for two weeks, starting on 7 September. Register here!

Please note that the discussion will take place on the Dgroups platform.
