COVID-19 Recurring Monitoring Survey: Info Briefs from CARE Bangladesh

Since June 2020, SHOUHARDO III’s Recurring Monitoring Survey (RMS) – implemented by CARE Bangladesh – has been collecting data to identify and track emerging and ongoing impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic; including qualitative interviews and focused group discussions, with a specific focus on income levels, coping strategies, and the role of women in the home. Infographic briefs summarize the findings from each year of conducting the survey in 2020 and 2021.

In 2020, SHOUHARDO III conducted a biweekly check-in with 425 randomly selected households to track the emerging impacts of the COVID-19 crisis through the RMS. The findings were important factors in evaluating the status quo of the participants lives in order to adapt and re-design program activities in line with the context.

In 2021, SHOUHARDO III re-started the RMS to monitor the effects of the second wave of COVID-19 on its participants from 425 randomly selected households; carrying out five rounds of quantitative surveys and two rounds of qualitative probing from May through October 2021 to better understand the patterns of coping mechanisms and impacts of those coping strategies on women and girls.
